Apparently Mother Nature likes a good laugh every now and then. On Monday (May 14th) Nebraska wildlife officials untangled six squirrels that somehow got their tails in a knot. The Nebraska Wildlife Rehab group took the group of squirrels and gave them each an anesthetic. Veterinarians covered them with a towel to keep them calm and then untangled the tails like a knotted ball of twine– the process took over an hour. They report the eight-week-old animals were sticky with tree sap when they got tangled. All six are doing fine, but some parts of their tails were damaged while stuck together and will require surgery. They’re expected to be released back into the wild in a few weeks. (Fox)
