Talk about being put on an emotional roller coaster. The Connecticut Lottery's mobile app malfunctioned over the weekend, and read some winning tickets as losers. Lottery officials shut down the app for an hour after identifying the error, and encouraged players who checked tickets between about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday (August 12th) through 10:30 a.m. Monday (August 14th) to scan them again. They're investigating the cause of the malfunction. (UPI)

Someone put together a list of foods that can easily put you in an early GRAVE. Here are nine of the most dangerous foods in the world. And you might have a few of them in your kitchen right now . . .

1. Hot dogs. Especially for children. In the U.S., they're the #1 choking hazard for kids under three years old.

2. Raw alfalfa sprouts. They're a perfect environment for things like E. coli and salmonella. Over the past 20 years, they've been linked to about 30 serious foodborne illness outbreaks.

3. Shellfish, especially raw oysters. You can get food poisoning. And they can also be deadly if you don't realize you have a shellfish allergy.

4. Fugu, which is a type of blowfish. It has to be prepared exactly right, because there's enough poison in one fish to kill 30 people. Which is why it's banned in the U.S. (Here's an old "Simpsons" episode where Homer orders one.)

5. Raw baby octopus from Korean restaurants. It's supposed to be served while it's still SQUIRMING. And you can choke to death if the suction cups latch on to the inside of your throat. About six people die every year from it.

6. Cazu Marzu cheese. It's Italian, and literally means "rotten cheese" because they use live MAGGOTS to ferment it. It's banned in the U.S. for sanitary reasons.

7. Unpasteurized cheese. Meaning the milk wasn't sterilized, so bacteria could still be in there. Most types are banned in the U.S.

8. Uncooked kidney beans. There's a specific protein in them that can make you sick, even if you just have a few. They're fine once they're cooked though.

9. Bagels. Eating them probably won't kill you, but CUTTING them might. Roughly 2,000 people go to the emergency room each year with bagel-related injuries. Avocado injuries are also common.

A great show from the '90s that always seems to get forgotten is The Drew Carey Show. An underrated classic to be sure. I was reminded earlier today of the "In Ramada Da Vida" episode where Drew and the gang hold auditions for their band, The Horn Dogs. Everyone from Slash to Dave Mustaine to Johnny Lang auditioned. Eventually they picked Joe Walsh (or Ed as he was known) because he was "sloppy and slow" and wouldn't make the other guys feel like such bad musicians. Check out the classic "Guitar Auditions" scene below.

Joe (Ed) was actually on a few other episodes where he showcased his kick-ass playing.

PRINCE is being honored with his own custom color. It's a shade of purple, obviously, and it's is called 'Love Symbol #2,' which is the official name of that symbol he changed his name to in the '90s.

The shade wasn't totally random . . . it was inspired by Prince's signature purple Yamaha piano.

His estate said, quote, "The color purple was synonymous with who Prince was and will always be. This is an incredible way for his legacy to live on forever."

Hard to believe it turned 35 on Sunday, August 13th! I don't know about you, but my ultimate high school movie...not to mention one of my favorite movies of all time is Fast Times at Ridgemont High. I was a junior in high school. I could relate every single one of those characters to people I knew. I knew a Brad, a Stacy, everyone knew a Spicoli. I like to think I was the guy who would've made it with Phoebe Cates' character (who could forget that "Moving in Stereo" bikini scene???) but I would've been the dweeb trying to buy Van Halen tickets off Damone. Let's celebrate the 35th anniversary of Fast Times with some video.

Just because Starbucks hasn't started serving it's Pumpkin Spice Latte in stores yet doesn't mean you can't find pumpkin-y goodness elsewhere. Low-calorie ice cream, Halo Top, just released a new flavor: Pumpkin Pie. It's just 360 calories per pint, and can be found in store freezers through the end of November or while supplies last. Just last week Halo Top released seven other new flavors, so you'll have your pick of choices next time you pick some up. (Women's Health)

I'm absolutely baffled by every single aspect of this story.

An 81-year-old woman named Marilyn Hammerman from Rockville, Maryland went to an amusement park called Funland in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware last week.

And when she tried to ride the bumper cars, the person taking tickets noticed that Marilyn's didn't seem right.

The cops came, and it turned out the tickets were counterfeit . . . and apparently, it wasn't the first time Marilyn had used them.

Yes, this 81-year-old woman set up a counterfeit operation to make fake tickets to use to ride amusement park rides.

She was arrested for theft of services.

NBC is still obsessed with bringing back "The Munsters". Five years ago, they kicked the tires on a modern version called "Mockingbird Lane", but they never got it off the ground. Instead, they just aired the pilot as a Halloween special.

Now, they're developing a new version. There aren't many details, other than that it's set in Brooklyn, where they, quote, "struggle to fit in with their neighbors."

The original sitcom aired from 1964 to 1966 on CBS. It took place in a fictional California suburb. There was also a syndicated spin-off called "The Munsters Today" that aired for a few seasons back in the '80s.

I'm pretty sure this family isn't going to mess with EVIL SPIRITS again . . . because the score now stands at Evil Spirits 1, Family 0.

A family in Costa Mesa, California held a ceremony on Tuesday night to ward off evil spirits, which involved lighting a bunch of candles.

And . . . they accidentally burned down their house.

Firefighters were able to put it out within 20 minutes to keep it from spreading and fortunately, no one was injured. But I'm thinking no evil spirits were injured either, so it was NOT mission accomplished.

And they're not the only people to have BIG trouble playing with fire this week. A 46-year-old guy in Dowagiac, Michigan was trying to burn a bees' nest on Wednesday when, somehow, he accidentally set HIMSELF on fire.

He was airlifted to the hospital to be treated for burns.

But even though EVERY instinct in my brain is saying "MOCK THEM" . . . I'm not going to, since one of the main reasons they're so exhausted is because they're working a regular job AND a side hustle.

Here are the eight most common extra jobs people are doing to make more money . . .

2. Babysitting.

3. Cooking or baking.

4. Dog walking.

Video of a woman butchering the national anthem has gone viral. She's completely off key, bungles the lyrics, has no sense of timing . . . and even sounds drunk. This was at a Demolition Derby at the Summit County Fair in Utah.

Tons of people complained, so the fair issued an apology. Their excuse was that someone recommended her, and since there was no soundcheck, they didn't know what to expect. The "singer" posted her own apology on Facebook.

You knew this was too good to be true. Halo Top, now the best-selling ice cream in U.S. grocery stores, is not really "healthy ice cream," as its marketing claims. According to NBC News, the makers of Halo use an additive called erythritol to reduce its sugar content. That makes it truly low calorie. A whole pint of Halo vanilla has only 240 calories. But nutritionists say the additive can cause diarrhea and bloating.

I don't know if this place counts as fine dining, but I DO know people are going to be lining up for hours to get in.

Cheetos is opening a pop-up restaurant in New York City next Tuesday that ONLY serves food made with Cheetos. Some of the highlights are . . .

1. Grilled cheese filled with cheese, bacon, tomatoes, and Cheetos.

2. Mac and cheese made with white cheddar and a Flamin' Hot Chipotle Ranch Cheeto crust.

3. Tacos with chicken, veggies, and Flamin' Hot Limon Cheetos on top.

4. Nachos that use Cheetos instead of tortilla chips.

5. And a CHEESECAKE with a Cheetos crust.

The restaurant will only be open for three days, but if it goes well, they'll probably be doing it again. And they'll also be releasing a recipe book if you want to make the stuff yourself.

Now that America has approximately 245 million craft breweries, I know they're in a race to figure out GIMMICKS to stand out from the crowd. But is this REALLY a good one?

The Veil Brewing Company in Virginia and Evil Twin Brewing in New York just teamed up to make a new IPA . . . out of FRIED CHICKEN.

Now, they only use a tiny amount, and they say it doesn't make the beer taste at all like fried chicken. So what's the point? I guess the fact that I'm talking about it right now means their mission was accomplished.

Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon are family in more ways than one.
They are the rare Hollywood couple to have been married for nearly 30 years, but in 2012, their union became all the more remarkable when they found out they were actually distant cousins.
  • Sedgwick made light of the finding during a panel at the Television Critics Association's press tour Sunday.
  • "I figured I was going to be related to Kevin Bacon — I mean, most white people are related, ultimately," said the 51-year-old said. "I wasn't surprised, honestly. Frankly, I figured that was part of the reason that they wanted to do both of us. I had to act surprised."
  • Sedgwick and Bacon appeared on PBS' Finding Your Roots With Henry Louis Gates Jr. when they found out they were related.
  • "I want… Americans (to) realize how united we are as people… There's so much animosity… and one of the things that I want the series to do is to show that, deep down, we are all Americans," said Gates at the time. "We've been sleeping together from the very beginning of the country."
  • The pair married in 1988 and share two adult children.

A seafood restaurant in eastern China called Trendy Shrimp is catching heat, because they started a new promotion this month where women can get a huge discount if they have big BOOBS.

It's a sliding scale where you get a 5% discount if you're an A-cup . . . all the way up to a G-CUP, where the discount is 65%.

A bunch of people complained about a sign they put up that showed cartoon versions of seven women with different cup sizes. So they took the sign down, but the promotion is still happening.

Well Apple is worried about your privacy, and it seems they're looking to do something about nosy onlookers. AppleInsider has discovered a patent Apple has filed called "Displays With Adjustable Angles of View" that discusses using an "electrically adjustable lens array" within the screen to target the backlight in a way that only one person could see the screen at a time. This kind of sportsmanship is amazing, especially when your adrenaline's up . . .

A 23-year-old guy named Jesse Orach was about to win a 10K race in Portland, Maine on Saturday. He also won the same race last year. But he started suffering from HEAT STROKE this time. And right before the finish line, he collapsed.

So the guy in second place easily could have passed him and won. But instead, he picked Jesse up . . . ran the last few feet with him . . . and PUSHED him across the line so he finished first.

The second place guy's name is Robert Gomez, and he's 34. He's never won the race before. He took third in 2010, and finished second this time.

He said afterward that Jesse ran the better race and deserved to win. And when he saw him on the ground, he just knew he had to help.

Jesse collapsed again after he finished, and didn't even know he won until later. He spent about an hour in a medical tent, and they said his temperature got up to 107 DEGREES. Luckily he'll be okay though.

One of the race officials said they could technically disqualify both of them, because you're not allowed to help another runner. But they decided NOT to do that.

"The Karate Kid" is coming back . . . and it's coming back with RALPH MACCHIO and WILLIAM ZABKA . . . who played his nemesis Johnny in the original movie!!!

They're doing a 10-episode online series for YouTube Red called "Cobra Kai", and it'll debut sometime next year.

Here's the deal: It's 30 years later, and Johnny is reopening the Cobra Kai dojo in order to redeem himself, and in the process he rekindles his rivalry with Daniel LaRusso.

Meanwhile, Daniel has been struggling to keep it together without the help of Mr. Miyagi. PAT MORITA died in 2005, and obviously, they're not recasting his role. So poor Daniel will be WAXING OFF on his own.

It sounds like there'll be a little more comedy here than in the movies, but YouTube says it'll also be packed with, quote, "heart and thrilling fight scenes." And let's hope a CRANE KICK or two. (The Wrap)

A lot of people are excited about the solar eclipse that'll cut across the U.S. on August 21st. The last time we had one this good was 99 years ago. But apparently a once-in-a-lifetime event like that just isn't exciting enough these days . . .

A flea market in western Kentucky is throwing a big eclipse party. And people who live nearby are upset . . . because they're planning to do a big FIREWORKS display in the middle of it.

It'll only last about a minute. But the total eclipse will only last 2 minutes and 21 seconds. And people who just want to experience the total darkness say it'll ruin it.

Organizers are defending the idea though. Basically, they just think fireworks during an eclipse is awesome.

(By the way, if you want to watch the eclipse without burning your eyeballs out, libraries around the country are giving away more than 2 million FREE pairs of eclipse glasses this month.)

It can be hard sitting next to the same coworkers day after day. A new study recently published in the journal "Emotion" found being nice to your colleagues can actually make you feel good. Researchers had employees at a company in Madrid fill out weekly surveys on their happiness levels, noting in each how often they had been on the receiving end of nice or not-so-nice gestures. A handful of the participants, the controls, received special instructions to be extra-nice to their colleagues through little gestures. Researchers write, "The acts of kindness don't go unnoticed. The receivers observed more prosocial behaviors in the office and by the end of the study, they were reporting ten times more prosocial behaviors than the controls." Also, the receivers of the kindness felt more in-control of their days at work.

Please note the following story contains language that could be considered offensive to your audience.
Modern Family star Sofia Vergara is proudly posing nude on the cover of Women's Health at age 45.
Vergara says she was motivated to do so to add a dose of realism to the all-too-often youth and perfection-obsessed magazine industry.
  • She tells Women's Health: "Here's a woman, 45, being able to show her body. It's not like before, when it was just young girls who would make the cover of a magazine,"
  • Vergara says she also isn't afraid to embrace her curves: "It's not about having muscle or cut abs. I don't have abs because I'm not 'I need to be like a fit model with a perfect body.' That would take too much effort!"
  • Embracing your current body – with all its perceived flaws – is essential, Vergara says.
  • "I'm 45. Even if you want to, at this time in your life, you can't be perfect," Vergara says. "It's not that you hate it, or that you're upset about it, but it is our reality. We're changing. I see it happening to me."
  • Still, she admits that always wants to look her best. "For good or worse, it's the way I grew up: Accept yourself but also be better than yourself."
  • She also mentions that her husband, Joe Manganiello, who has made his share of scantily clad appearances in True Blood and Magic Mike, was initially taken aback when she said she was posing nude.
  • "Joe's like, 'F-ck, you're going to be naked in everything now? Why?'" says Sofia.
  • She does give her husband credit for motivating her, despite the unavoidable obstacles nature gifted her with: "I can barely do a pushup. I wish I could be a little more athletic, but when you're born with these gigantic boobs … I've had them since I was 13, and then they got bigger when I was pregnant and had the baby."

If you're wondering why FLOYD MAYWEATHER is boxing MMA star CONOR MCGREGOR later this month, he broke it down quick and simple on the first episode of Showtime's "All Access: Mayweather v. McGregor".

He said, quote, "I mean, am I the highest-paid athlete out there? . . . We not talking about no contract. We not talking about no contract for no four years, or no contract for no five years. I can do it in 36 minutes.

"$300 [MILLION] or better. In 36 minutes."

Conor will make $100 million, but he isn't complaining, because that will be the largest payday for an MMA fighter.

Back in January, the Peninsula Humane Society reported it received twice as many requests for huskies as usual, and now one Bay Area shelter says it has seen a spike in huskies being brought back. 1. IHOP's Cheeseburger Omelette with a side of pancakes, at 1,990 calories.

2. Buffalo Wild Wings' Cheese Curd Bacon Burger with fries, at 1,950 calories. That's about the same as eating five bacon double cheeseburgers at Burger King.

3. The Carnivore Pizzadilla appetizer at Dave & Buster's, which is the combination of a meat lover's pizza and a quesadilla, at 1,970 calories.

4. Cheesecake Factory's Pasta Napoletana, at 2,310 calories . . . making it worse for you than eating an entire pizza.

5. The loaded sweet potato at Texas Roadhouse, which might make you think you're adding a vegetable to your meal . . . but adds 770 calories.

6. And the Flying Gorilla cocktail from Cheesecake Factory, which is a 950-calorie alcoholic milkshake.
